decent armour should be available pretty quicky tbh. I played for a while
last week (4 hours) and had picked up Masterwork Padded and Masterwork
Leather and Masterwork Scale armour by the time I logged out.

Course that may not mean anything?

Think I'd prefer Human... I'm presuming that bonus feats and skills are good
things. But that is why I asked for advice... the availability of good
armour in the early game would really sort out the decision for me :)

I have no clue yet what I'm going to play. I've been putting my efforts into
deciding between male / female and race. (oh and character name)

Guess I'll volunteer to be the grunt power... for the start anyway. From
what I've read I'm going to presume that Leigh=Cleric, Joe=Wizard/Sorcerer
and Conor=Rogue/Paladin. If anyone has any advice from Beta regarding
Fighters let me know.

If I remember correctly from what I saw last night, the othe 4 servers
were turned off... but Dorn was showing a big X (meaning, presumably
that it doesn't even exist?)

But I could be wrong.

Why not just whoever is on first pick a server, then email this list. 

Then the rest of us just make sure to check email before getting too
carried away :)
