[ddo] Start date/time

I resigned from WoW because...

1. Most of the people I got WoW to join were gone.
2. 60 onwards is grindtastic.

I considered it again the other day, on a PvE server as Horde. I mean, now
BG's are 'the' way to PvP, there's no point going on a PvP server, as you
get less of the retarded kids (they all want to be on the PvP servers) and
generally less queues. :)

But I couldn't face it on my own, tbh. (And No, I'm not fishing for attempts
to try either!)

I guess certain characters are built certain ways e.g. Warforged tank
has to take adamantite body and power attack as their starting feats
imo. That plus putting points in str, con, wis, cha to get bonuses/avoid
penalties means that your character builds itself. You would have to
make significant cuts to try and get Int 13 as well as all of that... In
fact it becomes a *total* min/max affair.

Tbh I'm struggling to see how the game is any better than warcraft but
that could be just because we flew through the early dungeons. It was
just a mosh with no real tactics/roles applied. I've seen very little of
the strategic, puzzle-based side of the game and if it continues to be
just a moshfest with everyone scrambling to get barrels broken/last hit
on monsters for bonus xp I'll be very disappointed.

Dalt I have an early 3rd Ed PHB / DMG / MM lying around at home - I can
post them to you if you want? (or can't find what you need online)

This is the point I've been making all along.

*IT'S NOT DESIGNED FOR THAT*

It's designed for DnD players. Therefore it basically *assumes* you have
some knowledge of 3rd ed DnD

This, I think is where the biggest difficulty lies, they really should
supply the game with a 3.5ed PHB for people like yourself Dalt who
haven't looked at 3rd Ed. :)

As regards Feats and Skills the game is fairly close to 3rd ed DnD
rules. (Actually in most respects it's fairly close to 3rd ed rules,
except where they just wouldn't work "online" (e.g. no "initiative rolls
for combat etc") Since the 3rd Ed DnD is under some sort of "open
source" license you should basically, if you're so inclined, be able to
get almost the entire PHB online somewhere. That will help a lot!

As for shadowrun... meh... munchies game... "I want a big gun *and*
magic missiles". :)
