My net connection is still fuxxored, I can get to Irish, UK and German
websites but no others. I'm currently holding the line waiting to talk to
their incompetent support staff.

Well, just finished talking to their support staff. God, what a bunch of
rejects, tell moron #1 that the problem is that their DNS server is down and
the routing is fuxxed and I'm greeted by pooly disguised confusion and when
I ask to speak to moron #1's boss I get moron #2  who proceeds to tell me
that moron #1 has passed on the information about the DSL servers being
down. Around this point I kinda give up.
