Yeah I know, CLW is only worthwhile out of combat these days. Rangers can
eventually cast CSW (so I should be able to use a CSW wand), however I don't
know if I can use any other Cure * Wounds wands yet without those bloody UMD
checks. I'll give it a shot tonight. Brians pally can also use up to CSW
wands.
They were talking about "fixing" the broken way that magic wands are
activated; regardless of your class DDO forced (perhaps still forces) a UMD
check which basically screwed anyone who isn't a rogue/bard. If they did
change something though, then they forgot to add it to the notes.
Might be time to bust out those wands of Fireball (10th) Joe. :)
"*Spell Trigger:* This is the activation method for wands and staffs.
Activating a spell trigger item requires no gestures or spell finishing, but
you must speak a single word, and you must hold the item in your hand (or
what passes for your hand).
To use a spell trigger item, you must have the spell that is stored in the
item on your class spell list. You can use the item even if you're not high
enough level to cast the stored spell (or even high enough level to cast any
spells at all). It doesn't make any difference if the stored spell is arcane
or divine, and your ability scores dont matter."
