Well, I think the time line will be now, but you and everyone else will be more than welcome to join in later on of course. :)

I played it last night for the first time and I must say that I really liked it. There are a ton of improvements over the, IMO excellent, "baseline" for MMOs that Blizzard has set with WoW and it's obvious that Turbine have applied the lessons they've learned from DDO (it already feels more complete than DDO did and it also has the advantage that unlike DDO encounters aren't balanced for a full group of 6 players). There are fantastic little touches in the game now, for example you can earn titles that you can append to your name, (you start off with your origin title, like "of Rohan" or "of Rivendell" but you can gain others by performing notable Deeds) and also using skills can unlock special bonuses and moves. I don't know what the crafting system is like or even where (and when) I can buy a horse but it feels great now and looks fantastic, in some ways it reminds me of DaoC (not a bad thing, mainly a look and feel thing, I even think there's dyeable outfits but I haven't found any dye vendors yet).

As I've said it looks great but I don't think there's really any point
spending too much
time trying to debate or otherwise entice people into this, it'll be
great to have more but three or four should be good and I'm counting on
Diarms rubber arm ;). You can lead a horse
to water but blah, blah, blah. It's very promising and I'd advise people to try it out; WoW ain't going anywhere and you can easily play two games like this, I did for ages with DDO and WoW.

So for Joe and anyone else interested in trying out Middle-Earth, Alfrith, Captain of Rohan will meet you at the sign of the Prancing Pony anytime... although maybe he'll be a champion or a guardian... or... maybe an elven minstrel, or a hobbit burglar... or a hunter...

PS There was also a pleasant amount of "real" LOTR names on showing last night (aided by the naming tips on character generation), I didn't see a single rofling zomger called "Orcsrgay".
