| After a successful team building
night on Wednesday Spartak arived in good spirits keen to make ammends for the
previous week's performance. And Spartak did start well taking advantage of the wind
and having the best of the early possession but not before Paul turned an almost
certain goal onto the post which Owen then cleared. But it was Zebra who took the
lead when they broke free of the offside trap and slotted into the far corner. This
pushed Spartak forward and having even more of the play soon equalised through a
penalty earned when Chris, showing good strength, was taken down as he was about to
shoot and Dave scored the penalty.
Spartak had a number of good
chances including a close range header from a corner put wide by Dave and a
difficult long range effort put over by Clive but unfortunately went in at half time
1-1 when they deserved better.
With everyone having played well the
orders were to do the same in second half. This proved difficult with the wind in
their faces and Zebra took control of the early stages of the half. Spartak remained
solid and didn't conceed to the pressure restricting Zebra to very few chances. The
first good chance of the half fell to Spartak when Chris put a through ball between
the centre backs which Dave latched onto only to see his goal bound shot
spectacularly saved by the emerging keeper.
This seemed to be the
turning point and when Zebra scored two easy goals due to two unfortunate errors by
the keeper it seemed all over. With Spartak trying to get something from the game it
left spaces at the back and Zebra scored 2 more to make the final score 5-1, a
scoreline which flattered them. Some good performances in the Spartak line up
especially in the first half left most feeling disappointed when the final whistle
blew. |
