Report Words cannot describe how bad this all was. What a difference a week or two can make. In their previous meeting, the CDFL Cup semi-final, a hard fought match was controlled and ultimately won by Spartak, battling for their lives and playing some great football. Here the only battle they managed was to get out of bed at the required time with the changing of the clocks.

Perhaps it was the lost hour's sleep or perhaps it was the fact they were playing on the bigger Bayer pitch, but Spartak were just not at the races in this match. They started OK, even threathened to make a match of it for a small while, but after that it was appalling. In all areas of the field they were second (and sometimes third and forth to the ball), there was no marking and soon goals were conceded. The defence got done time and time again over the top, the midfield was as competative as a half-stoned paraplegic in a wrestling match and the attakers didn't even threathen the corner flag for almost an hour.

Orange House for their part, perhaps aware of a proper ref being present, gave up their tantrums of previous encounters and concentrated on the game which they soon controlled.

At half-time it was 3-0, and that was a fair scoreline. Substitutions were in order and half the midfield was replaced in an effort to instil some vigor into the engine room. And it seemed to work, for a few minutes. Orange House were sitting back and Spartak finally got near their penalty area. For about 15 minutes they pressed and finally managed to score. Game on perhaps? Perhaps not. Soon it was back to the first half scenario and the final score of 6-1 could have been more.

Whatever it was, complacency, fitness or simple desire, Spartak were sorely lacking it in a side which on paper was very strong. They need to do a lot of soul searching if they are to redeem some pride and hunger after this.

In other news Sven Goran Erricson is apparently not now going to manage Spartak next season. He has comitted himself to the English team and reports suggest Spartak's refusal to accept Emile Heskey as part of the deal in the summer was the cause of negotiations falling down. Things are bad, but not that bad for fuck sake.
