Report Initially there was major confusion at this fixture as nobody could figure out why they weren't freezing and battling a hurricane when playing on Coldhams Common. On the contrary, it was glorious sunshine which bathed the Spartak lads as the trudged towards the pitches. Choosing a pitch proved to be most difficult as most seemed to have been microwaved to a crisp and then attacked by a herd of stampeding elephants, but luckily a dim distant corner was found which had a minimum of craters.

The game started slowly, well for Spartak, who before they knew it were two nil down inside about 10 minutes. And deservedly so, if you consider about another four goal-line saves by Steve. They hadn't shown up at all, well not without a beach towel and an aim to lounge the morning away and work on their tans apparently. Happily though they managed to awaken some sort of pride and began to play themselves back into the game. Come half-time the scoreline hadn't changed, but the manner of the contest had. Spartak were now on top of things and having pushed up the pitch were creating chances. Unfortunately though, none were converted.

In the second half, Spartak continued the good work and after threathning early, including hitting the post, had soon pulled one back after a long throw and flick on was converted by Dave with a neat header.

On top all over the park now, Spartak chased an equaliser and created good chances which they didn't convert. Alas, all this attacking left gaps and Orange house managed to capitalise and snatch a goal to put it at 3 - 1. Spartak were now chasing the game and in doing so struck posts and had good attempts, but again conceded. The match was now effectively over and just faded to the end when even the consolation of a second goal wasn't enough to dim the disappointment.

Still though, the league is well beyond Spartak this season and all eyes are on the cup final.
