| Report | After a truly lethargic start to
the year and a disappointing defeat, Spartak will hope to claim some points this
weekend against the bottom team in the division. Having said that, this Spartak team
is capable of incredible achievement and incredible underachievement, often in the
same game, so no result is a foregone conclusion.
After having such a large squad last week, will it be possible to
again achieve such numbers? Since there are potentially goals in the offing chances
are there will be hundreds queueing up!
Spartak's
aims this year are simple. Continue persuing their cup dreams while steadying the
league ship and perhaps sneaking into second place. They are seven points adrift at
the moment but a run of a few games could change everything (in that they will
probably end up more points adrift).
What with
the January transfer window now open and after such a banal performance last week,
few in the squad can feel comfortable in their keeping their places unless they
increase the effort. Rumours that Robbie Fowler may be on his way to Spartak have
been scotched on the grounds that he's too fat to run the line every week.
