In a shock development this week,
it was decided that Spartak's original league game would have to be postponed and
the much awaited Second Division Cup semi-final against Orange House played instead.
With such short notice the Spartak lads went into major cup preparation mode which
involved extensive physical training (such as using the buttons on the telly instead
of the remote) and mental preparation (i.e. watching Champions League football and
practicing calling the referee names).
After
their last game against Orange House resulted in a well deserved victory, Spartak
will be hopeful, nay confident, that they can again achieve the desired result and
progress to their second cup final of the year. The last meeting of these two sides
was somewhat marred by some ugly scenes, but enough about the showers afterwards,
some say that certain antics of one or two members the opposition left a bit to be
desired as well. Hopefully the referee will be up to the challenge this weekend and
a hard but fair game will be observed by all.
In
other news, rumours that Gerrard Houllier may be in line to take up management of
the Spartak lads this summer were scotched and a source inside the club said this
was a ridiculous notion because Houllier was plainly not fully qualified for the
role.
