thanks I needed "its time to start the music, its time to light the lights" in my head at this hour!!
I'm ok any evening mon-weds.
p.s. I've discovered a flaw/scam/PITA about the auction house.
People are now trawling it for "good deals" ie prices that are less than the vendor cost or resale.
e.g. item X on sale for 4,000 GP - its book rate is 32,000 GP which means if you get it for anywhere from 4,000 GP -5,500 GP you can broker sell it at a small profit for about 6,000 GP.
So ...... couple of things
1. Don't waste your time getting obsessed with a cheap deal in the AH. If you want an item don't simply press "bid" as this is for schmucks!!! Simply take the gold value of the item, work out its no "resale profit value" and input higher than that as your bid amount.
e.g. +4 Longsword is worth 32,000 GP. Its on the AH at 5,000 GP. Bid at 7,000 GP because anyone with reasonable haggle can broker trash it for 6,000 GP. By bidding 7,000 you are removing speculators from your bid and have a much much higher chance of winning the auction.
2. If you do lose a bid (and it was for a low amount) ie in the example above circa 5,000GP then don't be upset if you REALLY want the item, as odds are it will be in the relevant brokers hands within 20 mins. However now you will now pay "at least" 32,000 for it.
On a different note - equipment lists at level 7.
If you are speculating on the AH there are a few things we all should have at least one of by now. AND as a fixed group we should all have 1-2 items each to boost our "prime" party skill.
Genric we should all have or be working on getting.
1. item of underwater breathing/action
2. an adamantine weapon of some kind
3. a ghost touch weapon of some kind
4. an item of feather falling - preferably permanent eg boots - if not possible then at least something that gives you the spell a few times a day
5. an item of jump (similar to feather falling)
6. a bykesh weapon of some kind (although not needed this myself yet)
After that we should all have items that boost our main skills by 7.
e.g. Leigh should have a few items to boost all the thiefy skills by 7 (disable trap, open locks etc etc)
Mike should have same for Search, Listen, etc
you get the idea.
Basically when we get to NPC, like the giant in VON2 - Leigh should be popping on a +7 bluff item, quaffing a pot of eagles splendour - taking whatever buffs are available and then talking to the NPC. Most NPC's will allow this to happen mid conversation so its not even player knowledge (really).
Like I said - just something to watch out for if you are trawling the AH.
Oh - btw - somebody other than me (usually the bard/rogue - but doesn't have to be) needs to start being able to use scrolls well. Specifically "raise dead". Its gonna be a hit for somebody - but the party absolutely needs it - and it can't be me, as that person is needed to raise me so I can raise everyone else.
